The Michigan Tech Huskies are dancing for the third year in a row after their 2-1 victory in the CCHA Championship game Friday night in Bemidji. Michigan Tech will once again sponsoring a bus full of students including 47 members of the Pep Band and Mitch’s Misfits. At this time we don’t know where Michigan Tech will play in the NCAA Tournament. It will either be Thursday in Sioux Falls, SD or Springfield, MA…or Friday in suburban St. Louis, MO or Providence, RI.

This first bus will be paid for by the University but there was a waitlist to make the first bus so Tech Hockey Guide is attempting to raise funds in order to support a second bus to send an additional 48 students to where ever the Huskies end up. There are still five conference championship games to be played on Saturday which will ultimately decide where the Huskies play. We at THG are pretty confident that Michigan Tech will be heading East to either Springfield, MA or Providence, RI. There is a small chance the Huskies end up in Sioux Falls or St. Louis if St. Lawrence wins and the other games fall a certain way that Massachusetts nudges out Colorado College.

UPDATE: After speaking with MTU Athletics today. The ultimate goal is to fund the 73 seats given to Mitch’s Misfits on the 2 busses plus the 19 hotel rooms need via this fundraising campaign and a give.mtu.edu fundraiser that should be live some time on Tuesday. If you would like to sponsor a Misfit, we estimate the current cost per Student to be about $300 or around $21,900 total. Including Lodging for one night we’re looking at $330 per Misfits. Do with that information what you will. One thing we won’t have to worry about is tickets for Mitch’s Misfits as long time support Todd Van Kleeck has graciously decided to buy all the Misfits their tickets!!! If you can’t afford to sponsor a Misfits, please donate what you can! ADDITIONAL UPDATES BELOW THE REGISTRATION FORM

UPDATE AFTER SELECTION SHOW:

ESPN just released the NCAA 2024 Bracket Sunday evening with it being official now. Michigan Tech will travel to Providence, Rhode Island to play #1 overall Boston College. The game will be at 2PM Eastern on ESPNU. This is the most expensive trip of the four possible regionals. We need to buckle down and continue to fully fund a second bus for Mitch’s Misfits. As of 7PM Eastern, we have raised over $7,000 and have another $2,000 pledged. That means we’re just $6,000 from fully funding the bus and then we can start funding lodging and tickets.

ADDED INCENTIVE:

We’re going to do something new this year. If you sponsor at least one Misfit ($300 or more), not only will you get a thank you note from one of them, likely hand written during their 20+ hour bus ride from Houghton, THG will also send you one of these t-shirts!
