Jimmy Davis (11) Celebrates

Coach Mel Pearson picked his first recruit straight out of high school. Defenseman Jimmy Davis was destined for junior hockey until Pearson spotted him during the Muskegon Lumberjacks’ summer camp. Davis had already signed with Port Huron of the NAHL and had hoped for a spot on a Tier 1 USHL team, little did he know he’d be heading to college in the fall.

East Kentwood Head Coach Todd Bell called Davis “a once-in-life time player for a high school coach.” During his 3-year high school career for the Falcons, Davis amassed 24 goals and 45 assists in 72 games including a trip to the MHSAA “final four” last season.

“Without question, the hardest working, most loyal players I have ever had,” Bell noted, “he had every opportunity to leave Kentwood for Junior(s).” The 6 foot, 180 pound defenseman served as captain of the Falcons the last two seasons, while capturing two all-state accolades. Davis will join the Huskies as a true freshman.
