We’ve been informed that the previous press release which we just published under the Avant-Guard Dog banner was not, in fact, satire, we’re actually just gonna go ahead and bend the knee to the whims of the Big Ten Six-plus-Notre-Dame. Frankly, we read it and kinda just—y’know—assumed. I guess we’ll try this whole GLI thing again in 2022, eh?

So…

… “Happy” Friday, folks?

  1. I can live with it for one year as long as, if we get a win, it counts as an away win and not as a neutral site win. After that, eff them.

    • In reality, I’m very much in agreement with this, but the big issue in my eyes is the removal of the tournament format. Being selfish for a moment: the only upside for me is that having a guaranteed B1G team in each game means I can hope that the games might be broadcast on BTN, and then I could watch on TV from Minnesota.

  2. FWIW, I was afraid something like this was going to happen a couple years ago, as soon as the word got out that the Pistons would join the Red Wings as tenants in the new LCA. There’s only 5 days available between Dec. 26-30 to squeeze in a two-night tournament, given the Wing’s traditional New Year’s Eve game. Throw in an extra Wings game, a Piston’s game and a concert or two, and GLI gets aced out.
