Season 2 Episode 5 of the Chasing MacNaughton Podcast from Tech Hockey Guide; “Do Unto Others.” This week, Tim Braun, Rob Gilreath, and Dustin Lindstrom discuss (times are approximate):

· Robbie Beydoun and other former Huskies (2:11)
· Joe Shawhan Hour Review (16:31)
· Mighty Techster’s Recruiting Tweet (29:09)
· Minnesota State Series Preview (40:30)

Robbie Beydoun seems to have been given a golden opportunity to be the Badger’s #1 guy in net, and we wish him well on his new team. At Tech, he seemed have streaks of unquestionable greatness, but a stinker of a game usually seemed sure to follow. The former Husky had a rough past weekend for Wisconsin.

We also discuss the departures of other former Huskies Andrew Bellant, Gavin Gould, and Seamus Donohue, what the situations looked like for each player leaving, and what this might say about the current culture at Tech.

A follower of the blog brought about an interesting point about the junior leagues in which our current recruits are playing. In general, different leagues tend to produce players that play with different styles. We discuss a little about what can be expected from each league, which leagues tend to funnel into which schools, and what can be expected from our players that are coming up through the system.

The next series for the Huskies is supposed to be against the Mavericks of Minnesota State-Mankato, happening sometime between this coming Friday and Monday. Much like their counterparts at Northern Michigan, The Mavericks have had a recent COVID outbreak which saw the rescheduling of their games against Bemidji State, which were supposed to be played last weekend. At current, it is unknown if Minnesota State has gotten control of their outbreak or when, or if, the Huskies will play the Mavericks this weekend. Assuming the games get played in a timely fashion, Tim, Dustin, and Rob make the predictions as to how the Huskies will fare this weekend.

  1. Totally agree on the loss of players. Some few I could see but this is beyond just a few. How many did Mel have over his entire time here? My question is this, Coach Pearson got a lot of buy in from the players. His system was a lot more up tempo than joe’s. Does the system we play now, which is maybe less fun to play, part of the problem?

  2. I watched the Adrian vs LSSU series. Adrian would be mid pack in the WCHA right now. They were quite close to lake state skill wise.
