Nine of the twelve WCHA teams played non-conference games over the weekend, beginning with Michigan Tech on Thursday, while Bemidji State and North Dakota faced the US Development Team in exhibition games and Denver was idle. Minnesota remains a unanimous #1 after outscoring Michigan State 12–2 in a weekend sweep. Nebraska–Omaha makes the biggest jump from the preseason rankings, moving up from 9th to 6th after splitting their games in the Icebreaker (beating Army 5–1, losing to Notre Dame 3–2), and the biggest fall belongs to Wisconsin, which drops from 4th to 9th after being swept by Northern Michigan in Green Bay, Wisconsin (2–1, 4–2). Interestingly enough, all twelve voters are unanimous in placing North Dakota and Denver second and third, respectively, despite neither team’s playing a game yet.
