HOUGHTON, M.I.–For the third time in six games, Michigan Tech (5-2-1 WCHA 3-2-1) skated to a tie in regulation. Tanner Kero had a couple of good chances in the overtime, but this time, the game ended in a 2-2 tie. With the tie, the Huskies remained unbeaten at home, with a 5-0-1 record at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

“One of the goals we have is to establish a home ice presence, and I think we have done a good job doing that” said Head Coach Mel Pearson. “We are out to prove that there are no easy points in Houghton.”

Milos Gordic started the scoring, when he put in a rebound on the power play for his fourth goal of the weekend. Denver tied it with 0:10 seconds remaining in the first.

In the second, Denver was able to get one past Josh Robinson on a 4-3 power play, while Michigan Tech was unable to score.

Captain Brett Olson was able to put home a rebound in the third, to tie the game at 2. It would be the final goal for either team.

Robinson made 23 saves on the night and had another solids weekend in net for the Huskies.

“We need to tighten up on our penalty kill. We need to work on our discipline, we took too many penalties tonight” stated Pearson.

Attendance was 2183, below the season. “Fans already missed some exciting hockey, these kids deserve support from the fans” said Pearson of those fans that may be hesitant of coming to the arena to watch.

Michigan Tech will host Minnesota State – Mankato next weekend. The Huskies are looking to regain the WCHA lead after Minnesota swept Anchorage this weekend.
