This week, sophomore Blake Pietila and junior Colin Swoyer have won Goaltender of the Week and Defenseman of the Week honors, respectively.

Pietila has earned Goaltender of the Week honors for the third time this season on the back of a win against Lake Superior State last Tuesday and a stellar weekend against the Northern Michigan Wildcats. Over the three game stretch, he made 88 saves and had a .975 save percentage. He also had a 1.32 goals against average. Pietila leads the WCHA in both save percentage (.939) and goals against average (1.65) this season.

Swoyer has earned Defenseman of the Week honors for the fourth time this season. He tied the WCHA defensive point high for the week with 3 points, all of which were during the sweep of NMU. He also led all defensemen in the WCHA in shots (11) and was second in the league in blocked shots (9). As a key piece on the penalty kill, Swoyer also helped the Huskies go 9-for-10 on the PK over the weekend. He currently sits 2nd in WCHA defensive points, with 2 goals and 13 assists (15pts).

This weekend, the Huskies will finish the regular season in Mankato against the Minnesota State Mavericks. Puck drop on Friday is at 8:07 and 7:07 Saturday (EDT). Stay tuned later this week for the Chasing MacNaughton Podcast and for Jonathan Zamaites’s series preview.
